Meadowbank is a small, riverside pocket that sits right on the Parramatta River, close enough to the ferry wharf that plenty of residents commute by boat rather than car. It's a mix of newer unit blocks and older houses, and a lot of the older properties sit on narrower blocks that slope down toward the water. That combination of limited width and real grade change is fairly particular to this stretch of the river.
Narrower, sloping riverside blocks need a different approach to a standard quarter-acre yard. Retaining work often has to come first, just to create a stable, usable section of yard before anything else goes in, and every square metre matters more when the block itself is tight. Units and townhouses nearer the wharf tend to need smart use of a smaller courtyard instead.
Whether you're working with an older house on a sloped block or a smaller footprint closer to the water, we plan the outdoor space around what the land actually allows. Narrower riverside blocks and grade change toward the water are treated as the starting point for the design, not an obstacle worked around later.
